On June 24, 2020, the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA) hosted a virtual ceremony to celebrate excellence in corporate reporting.
Now in its 70th year of operation, the organization honors companies whose annual reports demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and effective communication, sensitivity and responsiveness to stakeholders, and active efforts to improve upon the standards of financial reporting.
This year, four Tangelo clients were recognized for achieving the above criteria. In addition three of them were finalists for special awards, and one won big by claiming two special awards.
New Zealand Superannuation Fund was a finalist for the Governance Reporting special award and received a Gold Award for overall excellence in their annual report. National Australia Bank won a Silver Award for the Sustainability Report and received a Gold Award for their annual report. AGL Energy was a finalist for the Integrated Reporting special award and the Online Reporting special award. (Read more about their production process in this white paper from Tangelo.)
Finally, CLP Holdings won the best Sustainability Report special award, the Online Reporting special award, and received Gold Awards for their sustainability and annual reports. In praise of the company’s 2019 Sustainability Report, the ARA judges said, “This high-quality sustainability report is based on material topics and is well supported by ESG disclosures. It includes a detailed description of the materiality assessment process, with consideration on drivers and megatrends. And it also includes a good overview of stakeholder interest, channels, and responses.”
At Tangelo, we’re honored to have played a part in powering these companies’ report production process—and hope to celebrate our clients in person at next year’s ARA gala.
